A three-storey building collapsed on Friday in Nurpur sub-division of Kangra district. One person died in the accident. Four to five people, who were trapped in the rubble, were taken out.
As soon as the incident was reported, the NDRF team, fire brigade and police arrived at the spot and started relief and rescue operations.
About a dozen labourers were working at an adjoining construction site when the building collapsed. The workers were digging up the foundation when the adjoining building housing a footwear shop fell down, the police said.
SDM Abid Hussain, told that two cranes and one JCB had pressed into service. All efforts were being made to rescue the labourers on the mishap site. The teams of the NDRF, fire brigade and police have joined the rescue operation.
