Sunder Gurjar of Rajasthan creates history at the World Para Athletic Championships

Sunder Gurjar, who hails form Rajasthan, has won the Gold in the Javelin throw event, on the very first day of the Championship. He achieved a distance of  60.36 meters in the F 46 category, followed closely by Dinesh Pryantha of Sri Lanka who could manage a distance of 57. 93 meters to claim the second spot while the reigning champion Guo Chunliyang of China could mange a distance of 56.16 meters and was placed third in the event.

This 21 year old Athlete from Rajasthan was unfortunately  disqualified during the Rio Paralympics as he could not report in time after his name was announced for the event and Devendra Jhanjariya had won the Gold in the event. He however claimed three Golds at the Fazza IPC Grandprix held this year in the month of February. Talking to the reports, after his win he expressed satisfaction on his win while expressing his sorrow for having missed the Rio Paralympics for which he had practiced hard. He expressed confidence for the Asiad to be held next year.
