On the directions of Election Commission of India, the State Election Department is carrying out the special summary revision of photo electoral rolls-2017 from 1 July to 28 July, 2017 in all 68 Assembly constituencies of the State keeping in view the General Assembly Elections- 2017.
A Spokesman of the Election Department said here today that the special summary revision of the photo electoral rolls would be done by considering 1st January, 2017 as qualifying date.
Giving details of the programme, he said the draft publication of photo electoral rolls at all polling stations and offices of the Returning Registration Officer (ADM/SDM) and Assistant Returning Officers (Tehslidar/Naib Tehsildar) would be done on 1 July, 2017 whereas the claims and objections could be filed from 1 July to 28 July, 2017 which would be decided by 11 August, 2017 and electoral rolls would finally be published on 15 September, 2017.
Special meetings of Gram Sabhas would be convened on 9 July, 2017 and 23 July, 2017 in which names of electors would be read out and claims and objections could be filed. Similarly, special meetings will also be held at ward/muhalla level in urban areas.
He said that special campaign would also be launched on 8 July, 2017 and 16 July, 2017 at every polling station during which any eligible voter can verify name of his and family members besides registering their names.
He said that any citizen can call on toll free number 1950 for getting information regarding enrolling his name in the present electoral rolls.
