The Solan police today claimed to have achieved a major breakthrough in the murder of a local youth Pankaj, alias Lucky, by claiming to have identified the three assailants as Naveen, Sweety and Hemant.Motorcyle-borne Pankaj was shot dead by three unidentified assailants at Shamti on the evening on August 7. The deceased was a gym trainer and also ran a dhabha.One of the three assailants who has been identified as Sweety, alias Vipin, was assumingly a minor who was less than 18 years of age and hailed either from Sonipat in Haryana or Delhi. The other two assailants have been identified as Naveen, who was about 26 years old and he hails from Sonipat while Hemant, alias Chiku, who was about 23 years old and hails from Delhi. Superintendent of Police Mohit Chawla told mediapersons that sketches prepared with the help of details obtained from the CCTV and eyewitness accounts had helped to zero in on the culprits and only two faces were recognisable from the available information. While they were yet to be arrested, the police teams were camping in Delhi and Haryana to nab them and the SP claimed that they would soon arrest the trio.Investigations revealed that the miscreants had used the registration number of a Swift car (HR-10-AC-1508) in the crime whose missing complaint was lodged at the Prashant Vihar police station in Delhi. The car which was used in the crime was another Swift car which too was stolen. The details not only prove the meticulous planning but also hint towards the murder being a professional one. The motive behind the murder was yet to be established.
