No move as of now to appoint DGP from other State Cadre

4 July Shimla :Chief Secretary Shri S. Roy said here today that it was too early and premature to speculate regarding appointment of an officer from outside the State Cadre to the highest post in the Police Department as being reported in certain sections of the press. He said that the State Government keeps on doing correspondence from time to time with other States on the basis of applications received from the senior officers, however, there was no such move on the part of the Government to appoint Director General of Police from other State at the moment.
Shri Roy said that the appointments were not made simply on basis of letters or applications received but it has to be done with the approval of Screening Committee and Council of Ministers. After clearances all applications are taken up with Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India with merits and demerits before such move is contemplated by the State Government, he said.
