Medical institutions in Chamba district crave for attention

The basic requirements in any medical institution is its manpower, who is responsible for the smooth running of he facility, but on the contrary all the government medical institutions in Chamba district are devoid of this basic need as the various positions are lying vacant for some time now, putting pressure on what ever meager staff is available with them presently, resulting in the beneficiaries having to bear the brunt of the lackadaisical attitude of the authorities concerned. The Chamba District Non-Gazetted Employees Federation has urged the state government to take up special recruitment drive for appointing doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, laboratory technicians and other staff in government hospitals functioning in the district. Expressing deep concern over the prevailing situation, federation’s district president Sat Pal Thakur and general secretary Ajay Jaryal said at present there were around 500 vacancies of doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, laboratory technicians, clerks and class-IV employees in various health institutions of the district. Listing out the requirements within the district they informed that the vacancies that needed to be filled up are, 27 posts of doctors, 4 posts of block medical officers, 11 posts of dental surgeons, 51 posts of nurses, 45 posts of pharmacists, 29 posts of laboratory technicians, 58 posts of class-IV employees and other staff, which have been lying vacant, for quite some time now, resulting in inadequate medical care for the populace of the region.
