Governor and Chief Minister expresses grief over demise of Indian film icon

13 July Shimla :Governor Smt. Urmila Singh and Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh expressed grief over sad demise of famous Film Actor and recipient of Dada Saheb Phalke Award, Shri Pran Kishan Sikand, who died at Mumbai yesterday after a prolonged illness. He was 93.
The Governor in her condolence message said that country had lost a versatile actor. She said that the Shri Pran was a multifaceted personality who reigned the Indian Cinema with his enthralling performance for over six decades. She prayed to the Almighty to give peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family members to bear the irreparable loss.
Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh in his condolence message said that Pran had close association with Shimla and performed many plays in the historic Gaiety Theatre. He said that even today, the people worldwide remember his riveting performance which entertained several generations. His death had created a void in the film industry which would be impossible to fill.
Chief Minister prayed for peace of the departed soul and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the legendary actor.
