On the analogy of ‘Mesmerising Mandi’, a bonanza of culture, customs and traditions of the Mandi district organized in month of May in Shimla, similar programmes, showcasing the cuisine, art & craft, traditions of different districts would be organized in successive months.
This was decided in a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh while presiding over the meeting of the department of Language, Art, and Culture to finalize the outline of the mega events to be organized in Shimla.
It was decided that the proposed Mega cultural event of district Kinnaur, would be held in June this month followed by the districts of Kullu in July Lahaul & Spiti in August, Chamba in September, 2017. Kangra, Shimla, Sirmaur, Bilaspur, Solan, Una and Hamirpur in successive months thereafter.
A decision was also taken to organize Manohar Singh Jayanti in Gaiety Theatre. The theatre workshops will be attended by the famous personalities and renowned theatre artists.
The Chief Minister said that instead of organizing laughter shows in Gaiety, efforts should be made to organize such programmes in an open place.
Chief Secretary, Shri VC. Pharka said that soon a Heli-port would come up in Shimal which would have a provision of landing and taking-off of three to four choppers. This will give added boost to tourism industry. He said that all the formalities had been completed in this regard.
Smt. Shashi Thakur, Director, Language, Art and Culture also briefed about various mega events to be organized in this year.

Negi, Administrator, Lalit Kala Academy, Shri CS Krishan Shetty, Secretary, Shri NZCC, Shri Jagjit Singh and Kamlesh Sharma, Vice-Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Art Academy, Shri Prem Sharma were also present on the occasion amongst others.
