The Medical college at Chamba is slated to be fully functional by August 2017 and classes for the first batch of students shall resume in August itself. This was announced by the Minister of Health Sh Kaul Singh Thakur in an informal meeting with reporters of various news agencies, during an exhibition organised by HPVH, at the Gaiety in Shimla, where he was present as the Chief Guest. He further informed that, though, initially there were some short comings, as pointed out by the Medical Council of India (MCI) in the project, which have since been addressed, the Medical college will now commence its operations from the month of August 2017. Speaking about the establishment of an AIIMS at Bilaspur, he informed that all the necessary official documentation and procedures for this have been completed, at the State Government’s end, and that delay now was at the end of the Central Government, who were not at all moving forward on this. He has blamed the BJP led Central Government for misleading the people of the state regarding the establishment of an AIIMS in the state.
