The two-day sensitisation programme organised by the Himachal Pradesh Council for Science, Technology and Environment, (HIMCOSTE), Shimla, in collaboration with the Science for Equity, Empowerment and Development (SEED) division, Department of Science and Technology (DST) started here today.
Archana Sharma, IFS, Department of Environment, said the involvement of women in science and research should increase and they should be encouraged to pursue career in these fields. The workshop features sessions by experts, case studies and success stories. Kunal Satyarthi, Joint Member Secretary, HIMCOSTE, stressed on the need to empower women through scientific interventions.
Scientists and Professors from various Universities of north India are participating in the workshop.Science for Equity, Empowerment and Development (SEED) Division has been set up under the Department of Science and Technology with the objectives of providing opportunities to scientists and field level workers to take up action-oriented and location specific projects aiming towards socio-economic betterment of poor and disadvantaged sections of society through appropriate technological interventions.
