Shimla MC Elections: Public Holiday on 16th

A Spokesman of the State Government said here today 16 June, 2017 has been declared as a public holiday under section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 to employees in any business trade, Industrial undertaking or any other establishment in view of general elections to the Municipal Corporation, Shimla enabling them to exercise their franchise.

He said that no deduction or abatement of the wages of any such person shall be made on account of holiday under the section.

This public holiday would be applicable within the area of Municipal Corporation, Shimla.

He said it has also been directed to give special paid leave to those employees who are working in different places in the State but have a right to vote in elections of Municipal Corporation on the production of certificate from the concerned Presiding Officer that the employee has actually cast his/her vote.
