Shimla: The State Level function on World AIDS Day was organized today at RKMV Shimla by HP State AIDS Control Society. During this function Shri Narender Bragta, Hon’ble Health and Family Welfare Minister inaugurated the website www.redribbonclub.in This site has been developed and launched by Ashish Bhagoria, MD, Vividh Edutech as a volunteer initiative to create a vibrant community of all Red Ribbon Clubs and Activists through sharing of knowledge, innovative ideas, queries, showcasing experiences and efforts on a common platform with a Vision of Getting to Zero.
According to a data, 7000 people per minute are getting infected by HIV around the globe. Many organizations and individuals are fighting against AIDS. RedRibbonClub.In will function as a common platform for all to discuss and share issues and efforts. Besides having knowledge base, the site has all features of social media like, making friends and groups, sharing activities, videos and images and interacting through comments, messages and chat. All Red Ribbon Clubs and Individuals can get registered freely on website to get involved.
A Red Ribbon Club aims at harnessing the potential of the youth by equipping them with correct information on HIV / AIDS Prevention, Care and Support and Treatment. It also aims in building their capacities as peer educators in spreading messages on positive health behaviour in an enabling environment and increasing voluntary blood donation from among youth.
The core objectives of Red Ribbon Clubs are:
- To reduce new HIV infection among youth by raising their risk perception through awareness on Sex, Sexuality and HIV & AIDS.
- To induce among youth the spirit to help and support people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) thereby reducing stigma and discrimination against PLHWAs.
- To motivate youth and build their capacity as peer educators and change agents by developing their skills on leadership, negotiation, and team building.
- To promote voluntary non-remunerated blood donation among youth.
