Rain Water harvesting mandatory for all Government buildings

Come monsoon and the issue of Rain Water harvesting picks up steam, The National Green Tribunal, has asked the State Government to ensure that all the Governmental buildings within the state, regardless of their locations, to install/construct rain water harvesting systems and operationalise them within a period of one month. Further the NGT, through its Head Justice Swatanter Kumar, has instructed all the Town and Country Planing Departments, not to not clear any construction plan unless and until the plan provides for installation/construction and operation of rainwater harvesting system, in government, semi-government, autonomous, commercial and private buildings which are more than 5,000 sq ft floor area in the first instance.
