9th September, Shimla : State Election Commission has issued notification for bye-election of 170 posts of different categories in Panchayati Raj Institutions fallen vacant till 9th September, 2013.
Shri S.S. Guleria, Secretary, State Election Commission said here today that out of these, four posts were of Members of Zila Parishad, 10 posts of Pradhan, 14 posts of Up Pradhan, 7 posts of Members of Panchayat Samitis and 135 posts of Members of Gram Panchayats.
He said that as per notification, the nomination papers could be filed on 19th, 20th and 21st September, 2013 from 11AM to 3 PM at the specified place and before the officer appointed by District Election Officer (Panchayats). The nomination papers would be scrutinized on 23rd September, 2013 from 10 AM and withdrawal could be done on 25th September, 2013 upto 3 PM. He said that the list of contesting candidates and allotted election symbols would be issued on 25th September after the time period of withdrawal of nomination papers was over. The list of voting centres would be published on 19th September.
Secretary said that, if necessary, the voting would be held on 6th October, 2013 from 8 AM to 4 PM. The counting of votes for Gram Panchayat Members, Up Pradhan and Pradhan posts would be done at Panchayat headquarters on the same day after the voting was over. The counting for the posts of Panchayat Samiti members and Zila Parishad members would be done on 7th October, 2013 from 10.30 AM at concerned Block headquarter.
The election process would be completed on 9th October, 2013.
