Mr Janamjay Guleria of GSSS Khaniara (Khas) does the HP teaching fraternity proud

It is a proud moment for the entire HP teaching fraternity, as one of it’s members, namely Sh Janamjay Guleria, the music lecturer, from GSSS, Khaniara (Khas), has been chosen for the prestigious National Teachers Award to be presented by HE Mr Ramnath Kovind, the President of India, on the 5th September 2017, on the occasion of Teacher’s Day.

Sh Janamjay Guleria, was born to Late Smt Shakuntla Devi and, now, retired Principal Shri Deshraj Guleria, on the 4th February 1969, in Basa village under the Nagrota Surian tehsil. He has inherited his love for music and spirituality from his father. After having completed his Matriculation from GSSS Nagrota Surian he did his graduation in B.Sc from DAV college Kangra, B.Ed from Dahramshala B.Ed college and M.Sc Maths from HPU Shimla. On completion of his post graduation he took up teaching as a Science teacher, and taught at DAV Baghni and International school Talnu, Dharamshala, and there after taught at GSSS, Athedh in Chamba district, in 1996, and got into teaching Music, in addition to Maths and Science at GSSS Spel in 1999.

After obtaining his M.Phil in Maths, he moved to Chandigarh from where he obtained his degree of Bachelor in Music, Sangeet Visharad, Sangeet Bhaskar and Sangeet Chudamani, the highest degree in music. His personality is such that he has contributed immensely to the society by aiding the need students of his school by providing them with free books, music instruments and even financial assistance to the needy.

Other than having obtained State Teachers Award he has to his credit more than 250 State and National level awards in Teaching and Literature
