Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today in the presence of Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal, cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar and other dignitaries will flag off Indian Railways’ first ever high-speed luxurious train, Tejas Express.
The key feature is aimed at providing world-class facilities to all sections of passengers.
Besides the improved aesthetics, Tejas coaches will be equipped with 22 new features, including entertainment screens for each passenger, phone sockets, and LED boards for communicating safety instructions.
There will be water level indicators in bio-vacuum toilets, sensorised taps, and hand driers.
Tejas coaches will also have Wi- Fi facilities, integrated braille displays, digital destination boards, and electronic passenger reservation charts.
The journey will commence at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus at 3:25 pm on Monday, and will arrive at Karmali in Goa at 12:35 am the next day, with halts at Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Ratnagiri and Kudal.
The coaches of Tejas Express have been manufactured at Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala. The first rake comprising 19 coaches including 16 non-executive and two executive chair cars and one power coach has been handed over to the Indian Railways.
Tejas means ‘brilliance’, and the trains’ coaches will be painted a golden colour.
