Himachali Girl brings laurel to Country

Himachal’s very own Chamba  Girl Seema won the Bronze medal in the 3,000m event at the Asian Youth Athletics Championship in Bangkok and brought laurels to the country.

The 17-year-old clocked 10 minutes, 5.27 seconds to claim the medal in the 3,000m event. Choe il Gyong of North Korea won the gold (10:00.96s) and Doan Thu Hang of Vietnam won the silver medal (10:02.18).

At present Seema is studying in 12th standard in Govt. (Girls) Sr. Sec. School Dharamshala and is under training at SAI Dharamshala.

At the end of day three of the championships, India is placed on the third spot in the medal’s tally with four gold, four silver, and three bronze medals. With one more day to go in the competition, China tops the list with 12 gold, nine silver and four bronze medals followed by Chinese Taipei (5G, 4S, 1B) in the second position.
