Himachal Pradesh all set to host a galaxy of stars in Domestic Cricket

Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association is all set and roaring to hold 15 Ranji one day matches league which are now called Vijay Hazare Tournament for first time at three locations in the state. The three venues namely, Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, Luhnu Stadium in Bilaspur and the Amtar Ground in Nadaun will be hosting five matches each.

“Fifteen one day matches will be played at our three venues, including Dharamsala, from Nov 6 to Nov 14,”said  HPCA press secretary, Mohit Sood. This is the highest number of matches allocated by BCCI to Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in a season, added Sood.

HPCA added that The state will be star studded during these 15 matches as international players like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Ashish Nehra and Harbhajan Singh would be seen in action playing for their respective teams. The players would be looking at impressing the national selector Vikram Rathour who will visit the venues to monitor performance of the players to get into the list of 30 probable candidates for the World Cup in 2015.

Speaking on this, Mr. Anurag Thakur, President, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association said, “It’s a great achievement for a small association like HPCA to host 15 Ranji matches. We will try to hold more domestic fixtures at these venues which will definitely help honing local talent.”

The HPCA team is expecting a huge turnout at the grounds as this is an exceptional chance for the locals to catch some of their favourite players in action from close.

About HPCA:

The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association was formed with the objective of augmentation of game of Cricket in the state of Himachal, in the year 1960. However the Association was granted affiliation by the BCCI at a meeting held on 29th Sept 1984. Till the year 2000 the Association was considered to be minnows of Indian Cricket, it was only in July 2000 that the present set up headed by Mr. Anurag Thakur took over the reins of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) and it caught the eyes of many.
