Himachal Pradesh is a mountainous state in Himalayas. Roads are the lifeline of the state. Landslides, snow and rains often deteriorate the conditions of the roads which makes it difficult for drivers and passengers who are plying everyday in HRTC or in other vehicles.Even though we have Public Works department and NHAI roads division taking care of the conditions of the road but still we are not able to provide better and safe roads and highways to our citizens.
Recent accidents in Rampur which took the lives of many people and Jot accident in Chamba where miraculously every one was saved shows the conditions of our roads.
Talking about Jot which is a short cut to chamba from Chuwari is a very tight and unsafe road because most of the road is without parapets or iron bars which can prevent the loss of precious lives.
Furthermore the untimely fog and landslides make it more dangerous for passengers.Politicians can take helicopter but normal citizens are dependent on these roads for their daily lives. In times of emergency where even one minute is very crucial for a person’s life such unsafe roads can be fatal and result into all life’s pain for the family of deceased who lost his life due to the poor road conditions and lack of safety measures.
We proudly say that Himachal is a land of Gods but we are also responsible for the daily happenings in the state. We have chosen our representatives to provide us good and safe roads and other basic facilities.
We can not blame God for our or our representatives’ faults and weaknesses. All people should come forward and ask their local representatives to provide what they have promised before coming to power.
Otherwise our state and roads are really dependent on God’s wishes and we don’t need our representatives in Legislative assemblies and parliament if they can not provide such basic human facilities.
