Shahpur – Central University of Himachal Pradesh organized a public lecture on “Wisdom for Life” by Prof. D. S. Rathore, Former Vice- Chancellor, HPCSKV, Palampur and member of Executive Council of CUHP on 18th March, 2013 at the Temporary Academic Block, Shahpur. He is a well known agriculture scientist and has a rich and varied experience of teaching, research and extension activities spanning over 38 years in various parts of the country. He is known for popularizing Kiwi fruit in India and is a pioneer in horticulture research. In order to serve the society, Dr Rathore has authored a book “Wisdom for Happy Life”.Addressing the gathering of students and faculty members of the university, Prof. Rathore said that wisdom is required to live a life full of joy and peace. Ultimate aim of our life is to be happy and happiness can be achieved through wisdom. “Wisdom is a process of achieving good goals by fare means and with the use of knowledge”, he said. While interacting he said that first duty of the university is to teach wisdom as it gives success, happiness, good relations and above all a better world. He stressed that wisdom can be learnt through self management of mind and body, acquisition of knowledge and relevant information from various sources, by critical thinking and analysing. He also stressed upon leadership qualities, managerial practices and forgiveness “If you want to live a happy life, follow your goals, not to people or things”, he said. Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yoginder S. Verma while welcoming the guest told that happiness is something which comes from your actions and wisdom. “Everyone can live happy life by adopting wisdom”, he said. He stressed upon the different ways how to control your life to live happily with wisdom. Deans and Heads of the different departments, faculty members, research scholars and students of the university were present in the function.
