The Chief Minister Raja Virbhadra Singh, on Monday, kicked off the campaign for the ensuing MC elections. As the star campaigner for his party, he addressed a total of ten gatherings in the city seeking public support for the Congress backed and nominated candidates in the various wards, infusing confidence in all the Congress nominees. The campaign started at 3 PM form the city’s middle and the lower bazaar areas. He was campaigning for Sh Inderjeet Singh, who is the candidate from the lower bazaar, and Ms Sushma Kuthial from the Ram Bazaar wards. During his campaign he made a mention of the problems regarding water and power supplies plaguing the city, which these new ward members, if elected will take care of and find a permanent solution to these crisis. He informed the gatherings that the blue print for the scheme for lifting of water from the Sutlej is almost compete and was confident that over the next 3 to three and a half years this scheme will be able to provide the local populace with sufficient clean and potable water all through the year. He also expressed hope that this time around the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor along with the various ward members will all be Congress backed nominees. While addressing various other gatherings in the city he was confident that the Congress will capture majority of the seats in these Municipal elections.
