Another Himachali woman creates ripples

A doctor from Una, Deeprekha Rajpoot, has made it to the final of the Haut Monde Mrs India 2017 contest. Coming from a small town and brought in a traditional family of Himachal Pradesh, Deeprekha has made it to the final 30 in the Mrs India pageant. While speaking to reporters Deeprekha said she had gone to Vietnam, along with other finalists, where they were groomed for the final to be held in Delhi. “I had never imagined that I would make it to the final”, she said. A doctor by profession, she has been living in Bangalore for the past five years along with her husband who is also a doctor. ‘I was enrolled in the competition by a friend, when she enrolled me I was not sure if could go that far”, said the 39-year-old doctor. She further added that she was a regular at the local gym where she used to spend at least 30-45 minutes, working out, for  five days a week. However, “when I started training for the competition, the schedule became very tight, my eating habits changed with no intake of junk food or sugar,” she said. “I don’t care about the result, but I want to give my best in the final. If given a chance, I would want to become an inspiration for the women of the state who generally give up their aspirations for the sake of their family and other reasons”, she added. Dr. Deeprekha urged the people of the Himachal to support her by liking her facebook page. Rashmi, a friend of Deeprekha, said, “She could not believe that Deeprekha, who was so shy during her college days, could muster up courage to compete in a beauty pageant. However, I am very happy for her and wish she bring laurels to her state and Una district.”
